Gritty pitching efforts by All-Star Game starter
Greg Reilley and second-time All Star Dennis Geiger were not enough for
the North Stars as the South Stars took the 1999 GPMABL All-Star Game.
Brett Mandel and Tommy Jackson pocketed their bonuses for being selected
to the All-Star team, but were unable to attend the festivities.

The Tourney Team
|
7-3-99/7-4-99 - The Black Sox won their getaway game 6-0 to cap off their weekend at the Midsummer Classic Tournament on Long Island. The Sox dropped their opener 9-1 and faded in the last inning of their second game to an eventual 10-3 loss. Highlights of the tournament included great pitching from Dennis Geiger, Greg Reilley, Zach Radoff, and Jason Taylor; an offensive explosion from Chris Crescenzo and Joe Clancy; and two party nights capped off by sessions educating some of the younger Sox how to lose at low-stakes poker. Joe Clancey was named Tourney MVP for catching every inning, driving game gear to and from Long Island, and putting some punch in the offense. Zach Radoff was named Tourney SOB for earning the Sox win by spreading two hits over five innings, nearly getting thrown out on a "defensive indifference" steal, and calling "aces wild" for his deal of draw poker. |

The Black Sox let another early lead get away, but fought back only to see a two-run Braves home run provide the margin of victory. Dennis Geiger and Greg Reilley pitched well for the Sox and Antonio Aspite had three hits and three RBI to help the offense, but despite the gritty effort, the Black Sox swoon extended to four straight losses.
