FATHER DIVINE
As one is absorbed into the reality of living here and now with GOD, many forms and fashions, customs, rituals and traditions pass away just because it becomes apparent that they are no longer necessary.
In the Peace Mission Movement there are no funeral services. Followers of FATHER DIVINE believe in giving flowers to the living, and when a person dies, they adhere to Jesus' admonition to
Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. - Matthew 8:22
True followers know that every expression of love and goodness made by any person is GOD expressing through that person. Therefore, they cannot be bereaved or feel the loss of any person because GOD never leaves them, and HE continues to express the love and goodness of that person in some way. This is scripturally verified in Psalms 68:5: GOD is 'a Father of the fatherless' and a Husband to the widow.'
If a follower dies in the faith, the body is taken care of in a very simple, legal, unobtrusive way. Followers believe that the body returns to the dust from whence it came and the Spirit goes back to the GOD that gave it; HE will give it another body as it pleases HIM.
A true follower who brings his body into complete subjection to the Law of the Spirit of life that gave JESUS CHRIST the victory will not die. This goal of Perfection is something great to which to aspire, but nevertheless it is Jesus' command:
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48
