Advocating Ambassadors and Secretaries of Peace

this is gos's administration

Then I say it is a privilege! Now we shall have a Righteous Government and as you see these Stamps, I send them out on MY Letters, every corresponding letter carrying the Message of Peace to the world! We are not only advocating a PEACE CONFERENCE among the nations, but we stress the significance of making a law to have added to the Cabinet, PEACE AMBASSADORS and secretaries of Peace as well as secretaries of war! Can you not see the mystery?

We mean to have from this Country and from other countries, the AMBASSADORS of PEACE to go, even as you have the different Ambassadors from the different countries- let them go as AMBASSADORS of PEACE, representing PEACE, that the nations of the earth might come into closer fellowship by learning more of each other peacefully, by the heads of the countries sending out their respective representatives to talk PEACE and HARMONY and UNITY for the good of all of the people universally! By this we shall bring about a closer relationship between man and man and hasten on the time of the legalization of the Kingdom of GOD on earth among them! That is what we are doing here today! I do not mean to say what we are doing here in Philadelphia only, but what we are doing on the earth plane to bring about this PEACE on earth and GOOD WILL to men, the purpose for which JESUS of NAZARETH came!

Eisenhower's Statement About "Peace, It's Wonderful"

(Following is a clipping taken from The NEW YORK TIMES, Sunday, June 8, '52.)

"The General (Eisenhower) opened his news conference yesterday by explaining that he wanted to say something that was expected of him and that he had discussed with his political advisers. It was the topic, "Peace, It's Wonderful" he said, "borrowing a phrase from the Rev. Major J. (Father) Divine."

"I can't conceive of anything more important to the American people than security and peace in this troubled world," he went on, "The lack of peace," he said, "is responsible for many other ills, such as recurring deficits, inflation and the diversion of a large amount of productive capacity to producing war material."

The text of General of the Army, Dwight D. Eisenhower's press conference at the Commodore Hotel, yesterday, follows:

(GENERAL EISENHOWER speaks):

"This morning I am going to take only a very few minutes of this time in my own right because I want to do something which is apparently absolutely expected of me.

"For some weeks past, both when I was abroad, on the way home and when I got here, I have been bombarded with a lot of advice about the very great disadvantage there would be for me if I should ever start talking about 'Peace, it is Wonderful'. So, since that seems to be expected, as expressed at least in the fears of my friends, I am going to talk for a moment about 'Peace, it is Wonderful"!

"I cannot conceive in this day and time, of anything that is more important to any American citizen than the question of the secure peace in the world. We justifiably worry about such things as recurring deficits, vast expenditures by our Federal Government, a tremendous part of which goes into these sterile, negative formations we call military organization.

"We worry about inflation and we are very right to worry about it, and what causes the intensity of the problem at home every time we think of income. It is the very threat hanging over the world, the fact that the basic issue of our time is "can we make a free system, such as we know, work?" carries the burden of defending and securing itself, does not have to succumb either to a threat from abroad or from the corollaries of the great difficulties that it places upon us here at home.

"So I merely want to say this: That if I knew any real panacea for this great tribulation through which the poor old world is going and which seems to threaten the great values on which we place so much value, I would most certainly make a speech on which I would work for weeks.

"I am ready to do anything I know in this world, to help to develop a workable, decent satisfactory program for the promotion of the security and peace of the United States which I believe, of course, includes, necessarily, the peace and security of those nations with which we must trade in order to continue to exist. Those nations and areas from which we draw the raw materials that our economy demands, or whose strength and potential capacity, productive capacity, is such that if they fall in the hands of the Soviets, would place us in a very bad position.

"My conviction is, there is no easy road to this kind of peace and security. We are all going to have to work and we are going to have to sacrifice. But because of that very thing it becomes peculiarly important that each of us takes a lively, critical view of everything that is done, supposedly in our behalf; that we examine expenditures; that we try to find out the necessity of all these great programs that cost so much money. Where are we going? What are we doing? They are going to be solved only if we all do it together!

Ladies and gentlemen, when once we get to the place that we say that we may now live in peace and tranquility and devote our substance and our productivity capacity to the things that our founding fathers thought we were going to be devoted to, the happiness and welfare of the whole nation, the raising of spiritual and material living standards, then we will have solved the great problem of our time."

"One reason that I am so terrifically interested in the young people of the world is because they are the ones who would have !to carry the-burden of any struggle; they are the ones who in any event, have a far greater stake in this business than I do. They have longer to live in this world, and I want to see them take hold right now, do their part, and contribute their brains, their ideas, and their imaginations and their courage to its solution. So I repeat: If ever I can get a new idea of developing and reaching the objective of 'Peace, it is Wonderful', I shall do it and without apology. I think it should be the greatest service I could possibly contribute!"

"Ladies and gentlemen, I just wanted to get that off my chest because I am quite fed up with people making fun of peace! So now, with that, I am going to throw this over to question, because I am sure in that way we will get on the subject of which you, rather than I myself, am interested."

Announcement of Appointment of Secretary of Peace With Cabinet Position

President Picks Stassen as 'Secretary of Peace'

Eisenhower Cites Value To World.

(Special to The Inquirer and N. Y. Herald Tribune, 3-20-55)

WASHINGTON, March 19- In a move believed unprecedented in the history of this or any other country, President Eisenhower today appointed an officer of cabinet rank to a post tantamount to that of a Secretary of Peace.

He named Harold E. Stassen, presently Foreign Operations Administrator, to be a special Presidential assistant with cabinet rank to direct studies of United States and world disarmament, including control of nuclear weapons.,

On Job Immediately

Stassen, who will remain also as FOA director until the scheduled dissolution of that agency in June, said he would get on immediately with his new job. He said he accepted it 'With the "utmost humility" because of its immediate importance in the drive of the Eisenhower Administration for lasting world peace.

For years various groups have urged the creation of a Secretary of Peace post in the American cabinet to balance the old Secretary of War position, now consolidated in that of Secretary of Defense. President Eisenhower long has had this and other suggestions under personal study in his ambition to have the United States lead the world in moves for peace.

Cites U. N. Deadlock

In a statement announcing the new move, the President noted that United Nations discussions of disarmament have "again resulted in no progress". This was one of the reasons for the new appointment, he said.

Of Stassen's duties, the President said:

"He will be expected to take into account the full implications of new weapons in the possession of other nations as well as the United States, to consider future probabilities of armaments, and to weigh the views of the military, the civilians and the officials of our Government and other Governments." The President personally emphasized that the post will carry cabinet rank in the formulation of American disarmament policies. He also said that agreement and cooperation of Congress will be asked in advance of any action or pronouncement of policy.

President Concerned

The President said: "The massive resources required for modern armaments, the huge diversion of materials and of energy, the heavy burdens of taxation, the demands for years of service of vast numbers of men, the unprecedented destructive power of new weapons, and the international tensions which powerful armaments aggravate, have been of deep concern to me for many years."

James C. Hagerty, White House press secretary, said a check showed the appointment was the first of its kind to be made by this or any other government.

Will Assemble Staff

At a news conference following the announcement of his appointment, Stassen said he would assemble his staff from his own FOA personnel, the Defense Department, the State Department and the Atomic Energy Commission.

His prime purpose, he said, will be to make "a more thorough and penetrating study of the entire question of disarmament than, has ever been made before."

The former Governor of Minnesota and ex-president of the University of Pennsylvania, a Navy captain during the Second World War, will take a cut to assume his new job. His present pay is $22,500 a year. Hagerty said his salary in the new post, despite its cabinet status, would be the same as that of other Presidential assistants- $20,000 a year.

Stassen, accepting with "humility", said he believed announcement of the creation of the new post should be "reassuring" to the entire world.

Our Chief Executive Has Made a... Secretary of Peace Because I Said It!
'They Had Been Calling for DIVINE Guidance!-Mr. Eisenhower Got the Guidance
and He Was Elected!"

Significant Sermon Given by Father Whilst at The
Holy Communion Table of The Unity Mission
Church, Home, And Training School, Inc. Of Pennsylvania
907 N. 41st Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Tuesday Night And Wednesday Morning
March 29-30, 1955 A.D.F.D., Time 1:25 A. M.

Suffice it to say, that words are inadequate to comment on these profound WORDS of ALMIGHTY GOD, FATHER DIVINE, for truly, HE speaks and listens to HIS VOICE; in other words, listens and hears and sees the 'fulfillment of HIS Words; for as it was written, they shall not return to HIM void! And those who love HIM and are one hundred percent with HIM in all HE says and does, have also been blessed to see HIS very WORDS of SPIRIT and LIFE come to fruition in our day, and HIS WORKS are MARVELOUS to behold!

FATHER will reveal to you in this glorious Sermon how HE, in this, HIS RIGHTEOUS ADMINISTRATION; is working through President Eisenhower even as Isaiah, declared in his prophetic prediction:

'And a man shall be as an hiding place...'

This day it is fulfilled.

ALMIGHTY GOD, WE HUMBLY THANK THEE!

(The foregoing statements are those of the transcriber, and the following is FATHER'S Sermon, with FATHER speaking as follows:)

PEACE, EVERYONE! Here we all are again. There I sit and stand in the Unity of the Spirit, of Mind, of Aim and of Purpose. It will make you what I AM and cause you to live the Abundant Life with VICTORY over sin, sickness and strife! Aren't you glad! ("So glad, LORD!" shouted the happy congregation.)

At this particular instant I have arisen to say, we gave out a few copies of The NEW DAY under date of September 11, 1954. This of course is a special issue carrying a sixty-page Supplement with it. The Supplement is an introduction of ME to you. If you are interested, you may get firsthand information by having this copy of The NEW DAY and also this Supplement. I would like to say, as the Supplement is with MY Compliments and there are sixty, yea, sixty-four pages of The NEW DAY of that issue carrying a number of our acquisitions-some of our business places and some of the churches, homes and training schools, as well also as a number of apartment houses, of hotels and dwelling houses that are purchased, owned and operated by followers, each of which was purchased without a mortgage.

I mention this because we do speak quite often of success and prosperity. We speak of Victory over the economic situation, over lacks, wants and limitations and over all adverse and undesirable conditions and we hold that not a true follower of MINE has a hotel where there is a mortgage or note on it! Aren't you glad! ("So glad," shouted the multitude.)

I mention this not merely to say something boastful, but to convey to you the Truth of how each of you can do, and get the mastery over the economic problem and over all adverse and undesirable conditions by living exactly according to MY Teaching. The time cometh and now is, that millions and millions are lifted from lacks, wants and limitations and are living the abundant Life!

Then I say, copy after the fashion I have shown you, and for a truth I say, so far as yet, not in any of our churches have we ever taken up or solicited for a dime for the spiritual Work and Service we are giving! The material food and other things such as that, such as the use of Church cars, such as sleeping accommodation in the hotels and rooming houses and apartment houses, you are expected to donate for such and for meals and for refreshments that you have to pay for elsewhere. We expect EVERYONE to donate for such as that, but MY SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY GRATIS, from a spiritual point of view and we want to see the whole world rise above limitations, adverse and undesirable conditions and master the situation with MY SPIRIT and with MY PRESENCE and prove the MASTER of OMNIPOTENCY and the CONTROLLER of your destiny!

If you note on the Calendar, 1955 Calendar, it's a little motto here, in other words, a demand which says:

'LET THERE BE A SECRETARY OF PEACE IN THE CABINET!'

Let there be a Secretary of Peace in the Cabinet! This was requested back in nineteen hundred and thirty-nine, some sixteen years ago, calling for a Secretary of Peace; for the whole Government should be just as we are and the Government should be under the control of men of Peace and of Equity and Justice for all! In the current issue of The NEW DAY you will see that this has gone forth. It has materialized, although we had called for it many years ago, but we do have on record of a most recent date when the Secretary of Peace was called for -nineteen thirty- nine, sixteen years ago. We found that in our records. But many such proposals had not been recorded and some that had been recorded had been misplaced and mislaid. But since that time, just recently, we find our Chief Executive has made a Cabinet for the Secretary of Peace, because I SAID IT! ("So glad!" shouted the congregation as loud applause resounded.)

I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO WHAT I WILL DO! I SHALL LET MANKIND KNOW THAT GOD DEALS IN THE AFFAIRS OF MEN AND THE GOVERNMENT IS UPON HIS SHOULDER! You will find in the pages of The NEW DAY, the current issue, I believe it is, where our Chief Executive spoke very explicitly before his election and declared if he can find any way to bring about this PEACE, why, he would do it and without an apology! Aren't you glad! ("So glad, LORD! So glad!' came the tumultuous shout.) He quotes ME and said more specifically and definitely, he was borrowing this phrase from the Reverend FATHER M. J. DIVINE! He had not met ME Personally and I had not met him personally. I had no connections with him or correspondence with him whatsoever from a Personal point of view, but because his heart was right, he wanted ME!

He received ME psychologically, mentally and spiritually and he entered into the presidency, and you will find what I had to say concerning it. He was elected over and above all criticism by his political advisors. They had been calling for DIVINE GUIDANCE! Our late President Roosevelt called for it and I gave him a lead, but because he did not accept of it and want it, even through his administration you will find that he did not get the GUIDANCE that he may have desired to get, especially for the last election of his administration; but Mr.

Eisenhower GOT THE GUIDANCE AND HE WAS ELECTED! They telling him, "If you are going back to the U. S., you better not go back there talking about, PEACE, IT IS WONDERFUL!"' He said he was fed up with it! And we have the record recorded verbatim and I gave him the election! I thank you.
